3DMark Vantage have several Presets, ranged from entry, performance, high and extreme. It will choose the most suitable Preset for current cards automatically. For more information about the Presets you can read these leak documents.

Why dont they do it for games . They just want higher 3dmark so people can buy their cards and if they dont do as good in games they dont care.

Dah! Beat me to it.

The purpose (which is using the term loosely) of 3DMark is to realistically simulate a card's perfomance in the real world. By taking this one application and optimising performance to bloat the score as much as possible defeats the purpose of said application while at the same time proving how crappy the good people of Nvidia can be. Sadly, it'll probably work since Joe Blow will see 10K in Vantage and be like "ZOMG I NEED one of these cards!!!!!!!".

It's similar to when someone posts benchmarks of an Nvidia card blowing the doors of an ATi card in the (heavily optimised for Nvidia) Crysis benchmark. You don't say?

Although I'll stand behind one of their video cards any day of the week, some of the recent Nvida activities have done nothing but make them seem like morons.
