I remember when this story first appeared, and I was shocked that nothing was going to happen to that malicious person. I bet she gets off though, and most likely the prosecution knows it but they're makiing a statement. People are more and more governed by their emotions and hate these days.

Just want to add that her comment to that girl "The world would be a better place without you" shows more than a bit of malice, imo.

I have not heard that line said to me since I left high school. Can you honestly not tell the difference between a adult telling a teenager "The world would be a better place without you", and a teenager telling another teenager that? There is a very big difference.

Was the relationship going anywhere outside of the internet?? Are there cases where men are thrown in prison for having a web chat with a minor? I mean, if the guy has kiddie porn, or intends on meeting the minor in person, that's an entirely different story. If this whole "relationship" was intended, by both parties, to be internet only, what's the issue? If this is the case, which it seems to be, even a male should be immune to anything other than public ridicule and humiliation. Dankoni basically summed it all up for me.

If this online relationship was the only thing that led to this girls depression, then she was primed for some form of emotional trouble/depression anyway.

I don't understand your second point, are you saying it's bad because an adult would actually say this to a teenager? I agree, I've never disagreed, the mom is very disturbed, but it doesn't put her at fault.

Well this is how I see it. If a adult punches a child, they get charged big time for it. If a child punches a child, nothing happens. Now if a adult tells a kid that the world would be better off without then, I see a big difference between that and a kid telling that to another kid.

The Adult should be mature enough to not say something like that to a kid. Maybe my logic is flawed, but thats how I see it. I appreciate the fact we can have a mature debate though, usually by now someone comes in and starts calling people names.
