Yea but COME ON. What kind of person, who is a 40 yr old adult woman, a mother at that, would pose as a teenage boy and then maliciously do something like this for an entire MONTH??
She obviously has some major problems that need to be addressed.
I'd say at least manslaughter or something.

I have no sympathy for people who commit suicide, if they choose to end their own life and not think about the pain they are causing to others then i would happily support them jumping off a bridge.

As far as the mother not knowing about the depression, I read this story when it first came out and if I remember right the girl had attempted suicide before. On the 1 hand that really shows she was pretty messed up anyway, but on the other hand I believe this woman was a family friend and she DID know about the suicide attempt. So did she do this in hopes she would push her over the edge and get he to try to kill herself again?? That's pretty much where the case is at this point, as long as I remember everything right

Suicide is the greediest thing anyone can do, they think they're helping themselves, but really they're ruining the lives of everyone around them...I think what the woman pretending to be the 16yo boy is sick, and she deserves to go down, but people whould realise that rejection is a part of life, and if you or anyone is thinking of taking their own life, wait, it's worth alot more than you think...Life DOES begin after High School...

Ok, all you people arguing whether or not this lady commited some form of murder need to read the F'ing article. THERE ARE NO CRIMINAL CHARGES. They were not able to charge her criminal under the law so you guys can relax. This is a civil lawsuit and governed by entirely different laws. This lady will never go to jail for this, there was no murder, but she may be found to be civily liable for the death and will owe a lot of money to this family.

Life starts way before high school. Anyone who thinks over wise is wrong (purely my opinion of course. Life started way before high school for me, but i agree with what you are saying

I just don't get why someone would take their own life because of rejection. My dad it, and i can tell you i have never shed a tear. That is most probably why i hate suicide but i reckon my stance would have been the same regardless.

I just don't see how people could possibly defend her. She did what she, knowing full well what would happen. Screw her.

EDIT: Urufu, we already know that. I think people were more shocked because they 'tried' to get her done for murder. But luckily the law did the right thing this time round....for once.

Well, she shouldn't have got off scott free, but she certainly didn't deserve murder.

Fine. You don't have to physically kill someone or "tie the noose yourself" in order to be a murderer, but I still think this is not a case of murder. Apparently the court agrees, so good.

I just want to reiterate my point about violent video games. A kid plays a violent video game and then commits a violent crime. Mr. Politician jumps in to blame the violent video game, but most sensible people put the blame (or most of it) on the kid's parent(s). Where are the people crying out that this girl's parents are just as much to blame as the woman posing on MySpace? Why didn't the parents know about this 4 week "relationship" that lead to their daughter's death?

Do some of you guys not realize that this girl suffered from depression? Depression can really cloud your judgement.
