Depression is too complex to properly and simplistically define it, but for the most part it comes from lack of emotional and psychological support to the individual (that often has deep roots in one's early childhood) which gets worse as time goes by, and often evolves into more serious issues.

What about my attitude is asinine or infantile? Point blank, if someone is going to commit suicide over a 4 week relationship where they never even MET the person....well they're just too weak to begin with. If you can be prosecuted for this then the world is too emo. I mean seriously, if i wish ill will on someone out loud, should i be worried about being prosecuted for 20 yrs?!

I'm studying to be an RN. My mom has been in medicine forever. I have a different attitude towards death. I grew up in the ghetto, not the suburbs so i have a different, tougher, mindset. I don't fear it and when i see it, I don't get sad or mysty eyed because I'm not trying to put myself in someone elses shoes. It's inevitable. Everyone goes through it. Go watch Titanic and cry some more.

Maybe it was a childhood incident, from before you two got together. Often that is the starting point, and everything spirals down from there. Depression is not something that happens overnight.

Well, I'd have to say that I'm not a psychologist but I understand depression moreso than about 99% of the people on this thread.

Am i wishing ill will on those of you who know someone with depression? No. Quit bleeding your heart out for someone you have no physical or emotional connection towards.

Depression is tricky. Most of it is caused by circumstances in life. Some of it is the mindset and mental toughness of the individual. Part of it is neural. Point is though, if the person is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO depressed that they commit suicide based on a 4 week internet relationship, and you prosecute someone, you're just looking for someone to blame. Blame the childs real parents.

Do not talk to me about poverty. I lived it. So yeah, I'm a though guy too. You are (and like 80% of the posters so far) being just plain inconsiderate towards depression sufferers.


I guess you mean the early teenage "light depression". Yes, everyone goes through something similar at that age, but it is not depression in itself. It can in itself lead to more serious cases of depression, but often everyone grows out of it.
