I guess you mean the early teenage "light depression". Yes, everyone goes through something similar at that age, but it is not depression in itself. It can in itself lead to more serious cases of depression, but often everyone grows out of it.

I'm not talking to everyone about 'poverty', growing up in the ghetto is completely different than just growing up poor.

Anyways, I'm not being inconsiderate. I see neither her mother, family or anyone associated to her on this thread. You, however, have done they typical thing and through association, have attached yourself emotionally to her because she probably shares some common issues with someone you know.

I call it the "Titanic". Why did everyone cry when people pretended to die on a screen? Because people tend to become emotionally attached by thinking, 'how would i feel if that was my _________ drowning to death'. Similarily(sp?) why did so many people mourn for Laci Peterson? She was one of a million women who go missing each year. Why did so many people attend her funeral that didn't even know her? It's association through our minds ability to connect feelings and emotion when thinking of what COULD happen to people we care about.

Plenty of psychologists in my family, and dabbled with it for a while. No, I do not claim expertise, but I know my fair share. But do enlighten use if you please. Rebuffing arguments without any substantial points of your own makes for a very lackluster debate.

wow...these kinds of threads really spark a pissing contest of intellect dont they?

the girl obviously had very low self esteem. suicide is never the answer, but some people do have these kinds of problems, and find solace in an internet companion. if she was that lonely and, well i disagree she was depressed, but perhaps desperate or maybe heading towards depression, being stood up like that would have been tragic and heartbreaking for her, if she allowed herself to get that into it. which she did. it is very unfortunate and there may be many underlying issues, but i would never forgive her for killing herself, if i knew and cared for her. and ultimately, its her fault for falling prey to such circumstance. if she was troubled or in need of help, a family member or friend could have/should have noticed something was up and tend to it. if she truly had no one, and this woman posing as a 16yr old boy was her only companion..well then thats different again.

personally, i think committing suicide over an internet relationship, whether 'depressed' or low self esteem or whatever, is quite pathetic, but again, we dont know the whole story about who she was/what she felt so i withhold any real judgment.

my mate killed himself last year, and i'll never forgive him for that. we all knew he had problems, was upset, we didnt know he was heavily depressed and leading towards self mutilation and eventual suicide. he'd do anything for ya and always smiled and laughed and had 5 or 6 too many beers. it wasnt over a bloody internet girlfriend or any crap like that lol...but most suicides share the same internal motives and its something that only the person themselves will ever truly understand...we are just left to question it and wonder why.

I do not know how this thread degenerated so far. Also she was indicted on conspiracy and accessing protected computers to obtain information to inflict emotional distress, both of which she is obviously guilty of. 20 yrs would be a maximum penalty as well.
