It is sad that someone would kill them self for someone they meant online. But you have to look at the other side. What type of sick adult would go online to basically torture someone because they think that person picked on there kid?

First off, maybe if you got out more with your daughter/kids/whoever and bonded more with them, they wouldn't be the rejected, depressed kids "reaching out" for someone on the internet. I've been in that whole no one gives a damn about me and I'm on my own when I was 13. Who hasn't? My parents almost never let me out of their sight when I got into that mood and starting really thinking about suicide. The internet isn't a crutch. No one cares about you online. You're just another screen name to somebody 500 miles away.

Secondly, the mom who played the "joke" in the first place really is messed up in the head. I would expect a human being who has created her OWN human being to have a little more thought and care in what she's doing to someone else's child.

Humanity is continuing to go down the drain these days. At least Americans.

I saw this on the news a while ago, heard they couldn't take legal action or were being told there was nothing they could do because the situation is so foreign to the system. I support the court action in this situation. Hopefully it sets a precedent for future cases of abuse and harassment against kids.
It would be different if it was an adult harassing another adult, but this was a kid, and from what I can remember, a kid who was known to have problems at school fitting in.
This was systematic, calculated abuse committed by an adult against a child. No, she didn't tie the noose for her, but she victimized a kid with a disability.
Now what if this abuse had culminated in her loading up daddy's 12 gauge and bringing it to school? Yes, the girl with severe emotional problems would be responsible for her actions, but how do people still wonder why school/mall shootings happen?

Personally, I have no sympathy for those adults who chose to end their own lives (quitters never win and all); the idea of suicide disgusts me and leaves me with great contempt for those adults who chose it as an option/solution to their own, relatively painful circumstances. And rest you assured, in the distant past, I myself was at that very precipice ... and in the end ... found it quite gay as serious consideration.

That said ...

When it involves an adolescent, I think the topic deserves special and far more exceptional attention; it should be treated much differently.

No way (in my own reading) do the same rules apply.

Adulthood is one thing ...

Adolescence, as any of us can most likely attest to, is a whole other, lunar-landscape-like period of emotional dis-ease, challenges and hurdles. It's really not an easy course to run and woe upon any supposed adult who pointedly attempts to make it more difficult than it already is (was).

So ...

In other words, ... good for the courts for indicting the monster that found pleasure (I'm sure very much) in tormenting the young girl.

The grown woman (monster) who chose to toy with the still developing psyche of such a young person new full well what she was doing:

And that is? Exactly?

Misleading and playing upon (perhaps) the single most emotionally charged desire that a human being can experience ... the idea/belief that we are wanted by someone that we horribly want ourselves, the idea that our loving feelings are reciprocated.

Doesn't get much more powerful than that, especially considering the all too "exposed nerve" type emotional state that we all went through as young persons.

Anyway. As I said ... rest you well in prison lady.

Re: Survival of the fittest: it could be argued that such a simply "Darwinian" notion could and should definitely apply to the animal kingdom but the argument gets complicated when applying said reasoning to the Human.

It's a can of worms, really ... and fodder, more properly suited to another forum (I'm guessing).

But that's just the humanist coming out in me.
