We as a people have a right to overthrow the government and reform it anew. Well if we dont like the way it's heading we have full constitutional right to remove them from our lives.

Don't blame the pirates for the industry's downfall. They are doing the same with music, and the only people getting anywhere are those offering music cheaply and easily (iTunes and the like).

Look at gaming, Steam is immensely popular. It's easier, cheaper, and people will pay a reasonable fee for that ease.
I have no problem with torrenting legit files/apps (i torrent sabayon and SLAMD64 about 50hrs a week.).

As for music - I think that bands will figure it out and begin to distribute albums online and make money touring - thereby killing the middle-man. An Band-Managers make an awful lot of $$ for very little work.

Yeah. Torrents are necessarily fastest (although they can be), but generally, I just stick a torrent on my queue and forget about it. It'll be done later and I can burn to disc. It's more convenient. Torrents are also much nicer on stopping/starting than DDLs.

Look up MagnaTune, great site. I'm a big fan of a few bands on there, and it's DRM-free, in good formats, well (and flexibly) priced, you can listen to full tracks for free to see if you like it, and good music to boot. Look up Rocket City Riot.

It's hardly going to stop piracy if they do... They'll just find another medium, perhaps de-localised bittorrent with no sites that can be targeted.

Anyhow the main issue here is not whether or not piracy is a good thing, it's whether or not we're willing to let our governments compromise our freedom of speech, expression and internet usage. With this kind of strict monitoring they would have the first step towards total control of what we do on the internet. which ain't cool. I think being able to access the internet is a fundamental human right, it ties directly in with freedom of speech and if it were controlled to this extent would represent a great stride towards draconian government.

rofl even if there weren't torrent users, they would call it the Kazaa killer or whatever the file sharing medium. But it's retarded...they'll just move their servers to countries that aren't inside the agreement. Personally, I like using torrents to find some legal stuff like on Azureus' Vuze to find lots of videos and stuff. It's all legal and they have lots of different things. The PirateBay and Demonoid also have alot of music that's local and put up by the bands to share their music and get some feedback. But the US government doesn't care about that. God I hope this bill won't pass until after the next presidential election. As long as a democrat is in office, it won't go through but these damn republicans and their wanting to censor everything is going to kill us.
