Why black ? It has been demonstrated with several studies that a page of dark color on the monitor consumes about 25% less energy than a blank white page. This is because the black pixels are nearly OFF , meaning the monitor consumes less and saves energy/costs. There is million searches every day. If a search takes about 10 seconds, that means 550,000 hours of research every day... that could be a saving of 15 watts on each monitor (according to studies) , so you could save 3,000,000 KWatt/hour in a year. That's a lot of energy. Start saving energy now.

I thought that the whole black monitor thing was debunked a while ago. I seem to remember that it makes a difference with CRT monitors but not much with an lcd. anyway, i prefer ninja.com for my searches (also black)
