As biased as the article might be I can believe that this will happen when there is pretty much no level 80 PvE content while WoW still has some content for the ultra hardcore (Sunwell).
WoW might not have been so smooth at launch but at the moment it is running like butter and in my opinion is as close to perfect as you can get with an MMO. AoC just seems too inaccessible for any casuals.

This game is awesome. (Level 80 Bear Shaman here) Notice he states NONE OF HIS SOURCES his name is BRIAN ANONYMOUS the website is WOWriot... This is pure a scam done by blizzard to push people away from its competition.

Before people start bashing Blizzard, this is a fan site. It does not endorse Blizzard's views. And secondly, why is this game awesome? So far the only answers I get are "Graphics" (go play Crysis then) and "The combat mechanic" (go play God of War or something). Seriously, the main factors that determine an MMO's success is accessibility, community and content and so far WoW eclipses AoC on all fronts.

For the record, I think WoW is complete carebear restrictive bullcrap. It's another amusement park. For me it was all about pre-trammy UO and AC, DT (PK) server. After that, everything falls short. My only hope for the future is Darkfall Online, or Mortal Online. Why? Because they are sandbox MMOs, not themeparks crafted for the average carebear. DFO is slated for release in 2008, but I'm not holding my breath. We'll see.

Limited PvP area. No full looting, which is effectively made impossible by the fact that the entire game is item based (i.e. you lose your Axe of Assramming and all of a sudden you are angry because you have to do your "epic" raid for the 57th time to get another one). The entire game is a grind. You fight monsters to get stronger, so that you can fight monsters with more HP, damage output, and a different 3D model--congratulations! You can't attack your own race, you can't steal, you can't affect the world, you can't do pretty much anything that makes a world truly come to life. WoW is the absolute best themepark MMO out there, but it pales in comparison to what a hardcore, sandbox MMO could be.
__________________I want an MMO where you can kill anyone, any time. Where you can loot any fallen corpse. Where you're point of existence isn't for the purpose of getting the next 1337 set of armor or weapons. Where you can build cities and destroy them. Where death actually means something. Where it's the player skill, instead of the character skill, that determines the victor of battles. Where there is more to do than simply log in, find a group, and then cut the shortest path to the nearest leveling grounds. Where the world lives and breathes and is dynamic. UO offered a lot of those features, and so did Asheron's Call; but their times have passed and gone. Darkfall Online and Mortal Online look very promising at this point and they are my only hopes for decent MMOs within the near future.

The game has plenty of end game PvP content, just not PvE The main complaint of this game is the lack of endgame PvE , which I could care less for. People complain about balance but don't figure out strategies, every class is useful. Accessibility is fine, there are obviously alot of sold games which means it must be good. Compared to WoW's launch how is accessibility? MUCH better. The AoC community doesn't have 1/10 the little brats running around trolling forums etc. The average age of subscribers is much higher which promotes a much more mature community. Content? We're in the first MONTH of the game. PvP content is fine and they are patching twice a week with a priority on two things : bugs and content.
