Wow... that author is a total tool. He probably didn't even play WoW at launch, and is just writing a summation of plagiarism from what he reads on internet forums. He is essentially trying to come off as knowledgeable, but clearly looks like an idiot instead. lmao.

AoC will probably not fail right away. I do believe that it will eventually fade away like some of the other second rate MMORPG's that have come out over the years.
The bottom line is this, people compare this game to WoW. WoW is obviously more popular, refined, and has 4+ years under its belt already. Everyone else is just playing catch up. I have found that most of the people who claim the greatness have either: 1) Never played WoW or 2) Played WoW and are blindly looking for a new high. I've played AoC, and still do. With the player base that WoW has accumulated over the years, it's going to be hard for anyone to crack the shell and immediately launch beyond expectations. Will AoC be a better game in the future? Maybe, but I personally I am not willing to play a buggy game for a year waiting for it to get better. Another thing you have to remember is that GW had a pretty large player base not too long ago. The Devs for AoC defiately took a page or two out of ANet's books. When I play AoC, it reminds me of a cheap version of GW. Sure the visuals are better, but it still feels cheap, plastic.

AoC is a great game, I never played Wow so I don't bash it but AoC Is a quality game that I and many, many people enjoy. Give it time to develop a bit more and it will shine.

This is Funcom's 2nd mmo. They shouldn't need time to make it work right or make improvements. I can understand on the first one(Anarchy Online) but not making all the same mistakes again on the 2nd time through.

CBA to read thro the entire thread, but I take that with a massive pince of salt, considering its published on a WoW fan site.

1. They are bored of WoW 2. They are bored of Daoc 3. Have no other game to play atm FunCom couldn't of had better timing with the release of their game. With no other major MMO that has really hit the market as hard as they have, They have lured away people that have grown bored of the major MMO's out right now. Once Warhammer release you will see a pretty good decrease in population in WoW, AOC, and DAOC. Mythic (now EA Mythic) has a very strong reputation in the MMO scene. The longevity of DAOC is a testament for Mythics dedication to their games. But until warhammer comes out, i am very content playing AOC since no other game peaks my interest right now.

I can't run AoC on my rig very well on any setting for some reason i got from 2fps to 22 fps every 3 seconds. This occurs on the lowest and highest settings so i've given up.

I don't like MMOs, but I thought that this game was pretty successful?

it is, for a mmo its doing fine. Give it time, bugs happen with every mmo. WOW was no better really. There was a TON of content they said would be in at launch and wasnt. hero classes, siege weapons, pvp system, etc.
