Personally I think the internet, when compared to TV or a book, is a far greater learning tool because you can expand / research / fact check anything you are reading or watching on the internet. With TV or a book, you are basically stuck with what they are telling you with no real way of exploring beyond the information contained in the book or TV program.

I beleive this statement is true. Not only that but I have evidence for this.

The word ''FAIL''

FAIL this , FAIL that , Epic FAIL, Your so FAIL.

Its like now the human brain can only process so much and then it just gets a BSOD and the word FAIL pops in.

However anyway I do think that you do tend to skip over contents rather than read all of it sometimes.

Perhaps, but not in the way they're saying.

Being able to skim through is much more efficient than having to read the entire thing to find what you want.

It's kinda like doing a mental CTRL+F. It is much better for learning new things because you don't learn things that are useless to you.

then the brain gets a bsod and only thinks of fail.

Well think of it this way.

'' You are what you eat ''. Well I think the same can happen if you take all the wrong kinds of thing into your head. For instance if you keep seeing internet slang or a mispelled word alot then over time you can replicate that problem.

Its like TXT talk. I can change between the two. However there have been times when I have accidently merged into TXT talk on a test paper lol. No kidding.

I don't think the use of 1337 slang neccessarily has any correlation to intelegence. Stupid people are going to say stupid things whether on the net, in the queens english or in slang. The rest of us will use slang for humor, sometimes if you don't want to write a bloddy essay about why somethings a dumb idea or just want to throw in your 2c as to how dumb something is, just label it FAIL!, gets your point across, gets a chuckle. I do understand your dislike for the term so don't mistake me, but be aware of what it is you don't like, it's just slang, there's always been slang and it doesn't mean you're stupid if you use slang, you're just stupid if you can't do anything but slang
