If RIAA/MPAA had their way they'd make you pay each time you listened/watched and then have a early stop penalty if you didn't want to finish the whole thing, and then a que fee and search fee, and basically if they could just pay a guy to hoist you by your ankles and shake you until the the contents of you pockets fell on the ground for them to collect they would be ecstatic.

Here is a simple analogy: I walk into your store, brandish a firearm and tell you to empty your cash til. However, if both the MPAA and RIAA, would start producing more than populace tripe and be reasonable about pricing... they would probably make much greater gains against piracy than their current campaign of demonizin midwest mothers affords them.

I realize that the debate is whether or not she had the intent to distribute, but this is a civil trial.

So get ready for another theoretical situation:

You walk into my store, and you point a gun to my face. You tell me to give up my cash, but before I can do so, you bolt out faster than a Nehalem processor on liquid nitrogen (or imagine something else fast). Now, you're definitely guilty of attempted robbery under a criminal trial. However, I won't be able to sue you for the amount of money that I was going to give you before you left.

Lets see them come after me without proof. I'll put them six feet under. The truth is they won't mess with us "nerds" or "techy's" because we know how networks, computers and filesharing work better than they do. They pick on the weak and unknowing because they have no defence or understanding on the matter. If you ask me it's sick an wrong and it doesn't make me proud to be an American. What happened to our freedom?

As far as the store example it was horrible. It would be like someone walking into a store pointing a gun and then bolting. At that point the gunman dropped a piece of paper that had the last name Adams on it. The cops pick up the piece of paper and a phone book and the first person with the last name Adams on it they arrest and throw in prision. That is what is happening here.
