As a man that works in small business offices all day setuping networks, installing network printer, 3rd party speciality software, and talking to old ladies and men that can't work with a computer at all. IT WOULD BE HELL for them to switch to Vista....You just don't understand...

Well I can understand perhaps for speciality software and networks perhaps using systems prior to server 2008.
Well I initially was talking about the well younger generation of people who work in the office...not old old people. When you say setting up a network printer...Is that hard or something as I have never had a problem with it. Describe your problem as I am rather interested.

I can agree that most small office users with little experience with Operating systems would dislike the move to Vista. I guess its all down to what te company in question wishes to achieve.

Yeah, if companies could offer 1 on 1 training it would make the industry so much more able.

I think companies would save alot of time and money if they paid out for some initial...even basic training on new operating systems.

I happen to work for a corporation Intel-style and be a good pal with the network admin in my side of the building. I couldn't resist to ask: why not Vista? Here are a few in no particular order: 1. The network management is not thru windows' tools, but thru some Novell operated servers 2. From my work rig I have access to a couple of hundreds of printers throughout the world; I can be in France and print stuff in Italy. Apparently this feature is considered useful by some. Link to Vista? You guessed it, most of the printers are incompatible with Vista - no driver support. 3. The security of the network is assured by another departement inside the corp. so Vista's added features mean nothing to the admins. 4. He will have to justify before his boss the added cost. People at work shouldn't play Dx10 games on the FireGLs and Ouadros... so what is there to justify this cost? I'm sure I forgot stuff, it's been a while from this discussion. What seemed to me is that this particular admin has a hard time convincing anybody (if he would want to) that Vista is worth the added cost and risk of incompatibility. The only possible thing that would be useful is the 64bit part as for one I work with huge finite element simulations that would benefit the added memory space; however I'm a developer and there are not many like me in 400 000 employees. The inertia of a home user like any of us is far smaller than a company's and moreover it's directly proportional to the company's size. IMO the rapport is valid, it's highly likely that all the big corporations do the same. My 2 cents.

This has to be down to networking, networking on Vista is garbage in comparison.
