ISPs will fight this...or does France only have one ISP? (I doubt it) And the ban...how would that work? If I get a new NIC and say I am different person there is no way to know that I was banned.

This won't work...might be a step in the right direction though, but blocking Internet to people is just not viable.

You know, you try to come up with a good anti-piracy argument...then you realize, why bother?

Let's see that one again, Stu:

"Not to mention, since when has increased revenue made a company lower its prices?"

Sigh.

LOL WRONG. Same lame argument as always that neither you nor anyone else ever manages to justify. You didn't even think before you posted: increased revenue drives prices down quite often. Revenue increase from from reduced production costs drives costs of all of your computer components down. Granted, it isn't the only reason for a price drop, but to believe it plays no part is just wrong.

How is that at all related to piracy? Or was that just a separate comment?

It's not based on the NIC, they will order the ISP to cut off your service, and none of the ISP's will sell you internet.

I guess you could move and get a fake ID, but who is going to do that just to pirate crap?

lay low forever? Alright.

As long as these strikes don't expire, laying low won't help you

Separate comment. :I I'm just so tired of buying software that upgrades every five minutes, paying even more.(So I can see why someone would turn to piracy, we're all guilty of it in some way... I added that comment to mainly say that I don't support paying huge prices for software.) I don't support piracy, but there has to be a way to stop it without such drastic measures, in that, I think the companies should deal with it, especially if it means keeping out of other's privacy.

Why is piracy getting so much attention lately? There is not one day where there isn't news on it.

It always stirs the same retarded arguments about it being the doom of us all, about homeless developers starving to death on every street, about whole economies collapsing, about babies crying, and all because John Q wouldn't buy Fluff Daddy's new "Gangsta' for realz - part II" album.

Going back on topic: This is an unfair measure that will do nothing to stop piracy, but do a lot to strip citizens from yet another right. However citizens seem to want that lately. Many citizens are all up for being controlled, for being told what to do all in the name of fairness.

Sigh. I wish stupidity would be lethal to its owner....
