Default [youtube] BBC interrogated over iPlayer

This is a very disgusting business practice. Just like recent NBC's Vista/Moonlight only broadcasting of the Beijing Olympics. Majority of the users get short ended when there are restrictions like these. They don't realize how much it hurts their businesses in the long term.

as far as im concerned, BBC iPlayer works beautifully on my Vista 64bit, never crashed, never caused trouble, this is all i care.

this edited video just shows a Mac fanboy's view on the fact that iPlayer application is only supported on Windows, which is nothing wrong. but their website works on all OS with flash enabled browser.

the user interface is clear, easy to use and very simple. those are the key to wide-spreading an application. as am matter of fact, there IS a bandwidth warning on the iPlayer, when you exceed certain download limits.

also, it is not "DRM encumbered", without DRM it would be exactly like a turrent download, and it would be illegal.

Is this how you want the BBC to spend your licence fee?
YES, they've spent it very well and i am very happy for them to continue to develop such application.

While there are a few valid points raised , can you further elaborate on this disgusting business practice. Some of the points on this are actually invalid.

For example : the size issue mentioned at the end, it clearly states under each program what the size is. Whats so bad about that ?

Also, the Mac/Linux download thing, yes, he was probably incorrect in stating that both could be done at the time. ( I dont own a mac or run linux, so I dont know for sure ) . However, people are complaining over why they are introducing to the biggest customer base first ?
I am not a coder and i cannot claim to know why it wasnt on mac or linux. What I can say is that they should probably speed the compatibility issue remedy, but to say its a microsoft plot necessarily to make sure its only run on windows is a very big assumption. The BBC Trust would be questioned to no end by people if they had said Windows Only. What was suggested was that Windows first ( Most number of people running it) and then the rest as soon as possible ( iirc).

iplayer is a great piece of software. It does need tweaking in some area's. Biggest problem iplayer has is users who expect everything(ie Heroes) despite the copyright issues the BBc has to contend with.
