the day i bout my first laptop i was so very excited,
got it home, pluged it in to charge the battery,
turnd it on. vista was the os that was on it.
as you know when you get a pc from a shop the os is party installed,
it installed ok ...
restarted.. just starts installing my stuff and it locks up.
***....restarted same thing locked up...
not only that when it did work it sucks up all the ram and the games run like crap,

so i slipstremed the sata drivers on to a disk for xp ,
xp installs fine,, i have more ram left and the games run faster.

now is there something i am missing here, are is it just vista.

Because a computer without the ability to run the applications you want = a huge waste of hardware. Or a lack thereof...
If you're short on resources, then let me recommend you something better than XP! From what I hear Windows 2000 consumes a lot less RAM than XP and it doesn't have all those fancy colors that drain all that memory from your applications. As an added bonus, it also games better!

I think that screenshot you posted earlier was just a concept interface. At least I hope it is because they better not screw it up like that.

coz i feel vista is like windows 2000 or Windows Me
went from 98 to XP and skiped on 2000/Me
How did you not use 2000
It was such a huge improvement over 98, especially considering stability. I still remember when I got 2000 Pro and how nice it was to not see the BSOD once a day. Now, Windows ME on the other hand...
