Interesting...hadn't heard about this before. 'Course at this point a commecial version is pure rumor but it's cool that they're researching this at least.

If this ever is commercialized, I think that it would be a "successor" to Windows in the same way that Win2K was a "successor" to Win98: different to be sure, but still called "Windows" in one way or another. There is just too much recognition established to dump the Windows brand.

I dunno...I could see it coming out as an embedded OS for devices rather than a sucessor. Like you, I can't see Windows going anywhere but something like this would undoubtedly be a smaller footprint for smaller devices.

People will hate it and people will love it. If they do it it will need to have a win32 emulator to run old crap else no one will use it.
