Best buy doesn't print serial number except for things like consoles. Computers, printers, parts, tvs and almost 95% of the other stuff in the store does not record the serial number. Consoles are recorded to make sure you don't buy a new one and switch it out with a broken one.

Yeah. That only applies to domain name owners, and there are plenty of services that allow you to get around that issue.
