I use MCS. I find it's the best and uses the least amount of resources.

Uninstall the old AV, clean, then install the AV of your choice.

Imho, I would download the appropriate install files first, disconnect from the internet, then clean and install before re-connecting and checking for possible updates.

Well in the hundreds if times I've installed Avast on clients computers, yours is the first I have ever seen that is having that problem. Hopefully if you were previously running that Hog Norton, you manually deleted all of the files in Program Files, including the ones in Docs and Settings using "show hidden files" and also removed the registry entries. Norton does interfere with Avast if it is not TOTALLY removed. MacAfee interferes as well if it is not TOTALLY removed.

Double click on the Avast icon, click "details", go to Webshield. Have a look there.

QFT! I've also installed Avast on at least 150 clients computers and I've had to deal with this issue once. Due to Norton's being uninstalled prior to me ever seeing the PC. All files were not completely removed, and the .dll files remaining were the culprit behind the issue. You MUST remove ANY and ALL files associated with Norton's prior to installing Avast!

I'm not that retarded, yet i accidentally did once.

Accidents happen and i'm glad i had an AV as it was a keylogger trojan.

Hehe, it actually kinda sounds like you have one of the "TROJANS" that tries to disable an AV or anti-malware program.
