8.7 seem to hurt my GRID performance a little but everything else works fine.

They NEED to get some sort of system in place for the fan speed on these things. I think they should allow you to select a profile which would then run at startup like "performance" or "quiet". Each one would have a corresponding fan profile. If the chip is rated to run at 80-90* then so be it but even a bump to 40% (4870) drastically cuts temps without introducing a whole lot of noise. I just don't like all the heat being dumped into my case when it's idling at 70-75*. I noticed my case temps went up a few degress from a RivaTuner'ed 3870x2.

I saw 3 point increase from 8.7beta's when I switched to 8.7 finals last night in 3dm06.

This was an average on 3 runs with each driver. So there is really no gain in this area. I am running XP by the way.

I will test some games today after I get back from some errands and post back.

What graphics card? I had a bug with my 2900XTs where my FPS dropped from an unwavering 60 FPS with Vsync to 10 FPS with flashlight on, but when I restarted my PC it went away. Go figure.

8.7 beta killed my performance in source games, but 8.7 fixed things up. Mixed results here hmm...

I like 8.7 they work good. Gave my 3870 an improvment. And now gave my 4850 a nice boost.

Looks like I lost a couple (4 was the most) FPS in most games. But for some reason they seem smoother. Like the quality is better for some reason. Hmmmm, well since this card plays everything I want at good framerates anyway, I will keep the couple fps drop in exchange for the better quality.

ATI Catalyst for Linux 8.7 finally works on my Debian Lenny w/ kernel 2.6.25.
I couldn't have made it works since I upgraded my Lenny till now.

And on the topic - F.E.A.R. plays better now, than before. (but I have no statistics, only impression)
