Vista has come a long ways. I think that most people who would install it now would like it so long as they had the hardware to support it. Hopefully the next version won't be so bloated out of the box that it gets a bad rap.

Vista sucks because you're too lazy to install it? Yeah, that's logical.

What they probably did was pick a bunch of people who just heard that Vista was bad and give them a computer. Probably wasn't computer literate all at.

Not that I'm lazy, just never liked Vista. I started running Vista when it was in beta, then ditched it, then ran it again when the rc1 came out. My laptops came with Home Premium and I just wiped the drive and went with XP. To me XP performs better for what I do.

Most people only say they hate Vista because everyone else is. They probably don't even own it, or possible downloaded it illegal. But that is no reason to bash it.

For the people that have it, and still say they hate it... they are just too lazy to tweak it, or don't know how to tweak it. It doesn't work right when they install it, so they can not fathom actually putting in work themselves to fix the problems.

And, there is also the UAC people. I have seen quite a bit of people install Vista, and see 1 UAC prompt, and be like "Forget this garbage, I am not putting up with this." And uninstall Vista right on the spot and say they hate it.

For the people that actually used it for more than 30 seconds, they will say its awesome. There are still a few bugs, but nothing major like everyone says. Besides, Vista is only in its SP1. XP still had bugs in SP2. Its not like its impossible to have a few imperfections.

Well it's not the only problem I had with it, just the most annoying.

Don't be upset because people don't like vista. It's just a piece of software.

And just an FYI, I ran Vista for a good year before finally quitting it.

thats just bizarre... (and I know you are more than proficient in your skills and user knowledge). I have now installed vista x64 on 2 laptops, 1 netbook and 2 desktops in my home... and have yet to experience a single issue. I am by no means belittling the experiences of other users, I just don't understand why there are so many issues...and I have yet to experience one, across a multitude of platforms
