I'm sorry but what did you expect with beta and rc1 perfect 100% complete bug free OS? It is much better now with the SP1. XP was not perfect at first either now everyone loves it which is going to be the same with Vista. Just give it a try again I think you will be surprised.

I've never had that happen to me.

I installed back in October and I've never looked back. XP was great and did everything I needed, but Vista is better.

Who are these people that think you need to tweak it? I don't touch a thing. Except enter the security policies page and elevate my admin account without prompt (UAC) then disable the security message.

I don't even need an anti-virus.

Maybe someday, but as of right now I can't run any of the programs I use at work at home. That is the most important thing aside from the little things.

But I'll gladly run a copy of Linux before I ever run Vista again!

They wouldn't have to if the users weren't so stubborn in the first place.

Why does it suck. Let me guess. You install it, to lazy to tweak it and rant about how much memory it uses?

Also please don't rant to me that you dont tweak Xp when you install it. Everyone tweaks there os once its installed

I'm sorry that happened. Any OS can be a fuss somtimes. You were just very unlucky a few times. Maybe it was just your hardware. However alot of people don't get this problem. I never have and I install many copys of vista on many machines

Thats good. Sell them off if you are not going to use them.

(btw he isnt' bashing Vista here. Its like saying I have a copy of Ubuntu 8.04 that is collecting dust. I am no bushing it. I mite not want to use it right this second)

Dude vista has come along way. I still have Vista Beta 2 in my case. My copy of vista runs way faster than the beta 2. Also better support etc!

For the people that have it, and still say they hate it... they are just too lazy to tweak it, or don't know how to tweak it. It doesn't work right when they install it, so they can not fathom actually putting in work themselves to fix the problems.

And, there is also the UAC people. I have seen quite a bit of people install Vista, and see 1 UAC prompt, and be like "Forget this garbage, I am not putting up with this." And uninstall Vista right on the spot and say they hate it.

For the people that actually used it for more than 30 seconds, they will say its awesome. There are still a few bugs, but nothing major like everyone says. Besides, Vista is only in its SP1. XP still had bugs in SP2. Its not like its impossible to have a few imperfections.
I totally agree on this post.

I've been using Vista for over a year and have yet to experience a single Vista related problem. I'm not saying others haven't had their share of issues, but I've personally seen none of it. The same goes for two of my friends who are using Vista.

Meh, I still think Vista doesn't need tweaking in the slightest. It certainly trounces on XP in both functionality and power. For example, Vista has yet to BSOD me, for something that wasn't Nvidia's fault (the problem was also present on XP for me). I'm told Vista isn't compatible, yet I just plug MP3 players and external hard drives in and I don't have to lift a finger, whereas XP made me install software for pretty much all MP3 players/mobile phones.

I dual boot XP Pro and Vista Ultimate, but I find myself in Vista 24/7. Too me it does run a bit slow, but I still use it. Because it's pretty I'm sure.
