In XP, the computer would have an e-seizure and BSOD.
Depends on drivers.

When I owned A ATI radeon 9550. If I overclocked to far, screen would blank out than come back and say "Drivers stop responding". It would run in 640x480 @ 16 color. Just reset XP and it will work again. Its nothing new in the OS world but it really does depend on the drivers

XP = BSOD's, program crashes, the whole OS freezes unrecoverably from a single program error, easily corrupted on both stable and unstable hardware, spyware infestations with novice users regardless of protection software. Not to mention the nightmarish x64 version

Vista = Dead stable for one year and counting on three different systems, one of which is the public living room whore computer. No spyware, no crashes, no BS. x64 = win

I think something sucks... people who think Vista sucks for no good reason.
Since when does the os you choose to use affect one's computer skills?

Never have problems with spyware or viruses, I chose to stay away from questionable websites and file sharing programs.

Only bsod's I have had in XP was due to system instabilities from overclocking, or incompatible hardware or bad drivers.

Edit: done debating the superior os, Linux is far more stable

The only negative thing I've come across in Vista is a BSOD because of a printer. And it was a sexy printer. I wanted it to work but it just wouldn't. And my dad owns a Mac and trying to get my PC to talk to his printer server farm through his Mac is like trying to talk to Dell customer support: you know what you want, you know it's feasible but the damn problem is on the other end of the line.

Oh! And my Creative drivers that make my music sound like crap. But apparently nothing can fix that.

I love Vista. It's much faster and more responsive than XP and gives me less headaches. All my hardware is modern so Vista just works. I don't understand the hate. The memory hog issue was never an issue. People who don't understand something shouldn't be allowed to comment. Vista does not hog your memory. It actually uses it for once. People need to understand how Superfetch works.

I nothing Vista. Windows is Windows. Drivers work correctly now, it crashes about as often as XP, Punkbuster finally works with it, and gpu's are starting to be able to handle DX10. There is no compelling reason for me to upgrade as my hardware isn't really favorable for DX10.

On the other hand, I have a free copy of Vista Ultimate that's good for a couple of months and I need something to put in the Windows partition of my upcoming dual boot system. So, why not?

I started using it because my XP side was having issues... now I'm using it 24/7
100% rock-solid stability except a weird driver thing with dreamscene.
