that's why i cited two examples, i can't tell you with 100% certainty i don't have a virus.........but if i feel no effects from it, and don't notice anything out of place, i don't see a reason to have a resourse/startup hogging piece of software on my comp

A virus can run in the background as part of a botnet, leeching quietly off your internet connection, being used to spam or as part of a DDOS attack. It can be sending off your private files, keylogging for credit card numbers and the like. Viruses prefer to be quiet and not noticable for the user - that way they don't get removed.

with IE7pro plugin, i get no ads, popups, etc. I feel more comfortable on IE7, but I don't hate on people who uses firefox, feel free.

lol, i did a spyware check about a month since my last one, this was after is switched to ff3 from ff2 and ie6. i got one tracking cookie in a whole month... explain that for me...
