They cant just lay more fiber and get more bandwidth.. Its about their connections with other ISP's as well. So they ALL need to add more fiber, and upgrade their equipment.

not sure on the reasoning for 2 versions... but i have always spelled it fibre.
There is a difference between Fibre, and Fiber.

Not for internet service (again, wrong).

Fiber is a cable that hooks up to routers, and gives you internet..

Fibre, which is Fibre Channel, is used to connect RAID arrays to servers (such as the ones you buy for server racks that have, for example 20 hard drives in, and the 8Gb of bandwidth just may be needed ).

Hope that clears some things up.

Fibre is the correct way if you are speaking English. Fiber is correct if you are speaking American English. They are the same thing.
And it'd be a start to lay more fibre. If everyone has to do it, someone has to do it to begin with

This is bad. I know everyone thinks it is great because Comcast got nailed for braking the rules, which they should have, but in a totally different way. Comcast broke a contract with its users by restricting their use, they should have been punished in a civil court. The FCC should be disbanded.

The MPAA and RIAA should have to prove that person X has downloaded and SHARED file Y.

Whereas I think ANY huge corporation found in foul of the law should be fined to the fullest extent of the law and measures like the ones drawn up by the FCC (who are actually doing it right for a change) should also be emplaced.

Did you even read the post?!?! there's not going to be any fines at all, simply the only thing they're (the fcc) going to do is "make" Comcast divulge all information in relation to what they did, and how they plan to implement network managment in the future.

So in the end Comcast isn't losing any money over this, they've just got to fully fess up to what they did.

As for the other person who posted about Cox and Comcast being the same, they are not, they are completely seperately owned and operated companies.

I completely disagree. What is the point of the existence of the FCC? It has no place and is simply a waste of money and an increase in unneeded regulation. Without the FCC Comcast would simply be sued in a civil court. There is absolutely no need for the FCC.

Without the FCC Comcast can win their way out of civil court. The FCC is here to regulate these type of things.

Without them who would regulate patents? Companies would be cheating left and right and making ridiculous amounts of money by taking the work of other companies and funnel it into the market and it would just strain up the court system left and right.
I can't really understand your justification.

Its like your allowed to rob a bank without going to prison.
