I didn't find Chrome any faster than FF3 either, and as nice at it looks it just doesn't render websites properly. Firefox had the same issue back in the 1.x days, where everyone built their websites around IE, but it wasn't that big of a deal since we were giving up IE for FF. Besides, I'm still waiting for the linux version...

There are rumors going around that this brings javaScript execution speed near the speed of C. A scripting language that can run as fast as C would be a pretty powerful thing to have.

I see nobody realises that this is pretty unfair....we to need to compare Chrome with FF 1. Remeber, this is still BETA software but is nearly as fast as FF 3 after years of development.

And should we also compare it to the original 16-bit IE 1.0 from Windows 3.1? Yeah, ok.

That's a bit sad, all of these Firefox fans think such a minimal increase in JS speed will determine which browser will be used more.
Who has heard of Mozilla? Quite a lot of people, but not everybody. Who has heard of Google? Everybody. Also, don't forget that Google's Chrome is only in the beta stage. Honestly, though, I don't see Firefox doing well against such a beast. |

Actually both Firefox and Google Chrome use JavaScript for the interface. If you are running Firefox just enter in the url bar: chrome://browser/content/browser.xul , and after that click view and then View Source. I'm sure Google Chrome has the same thing - here it is. These 2 milliseconds are during a benchmark that can be 10 or 100 lines, which is something very small. So IF Google Chrome had as complex interface as Firefox, it would be slower. Firefox extensions are written in JavaScript, pity but Google Chrome didn't show any support for add-ons.

Having used FF for awhile now i like it. Downloaded chrome and as a general purpose browser i have to say i like it more. It's still ruff around the edges but i expect that in a beta. There are some innovative things it is doing and if anything is going to overtake IE it would be something from Google just by the simple fact they have the money to do it.
