But along with that, Apple gives reasons why you should choose them over Windows, even if those reasons are bit vague and debatable. But MS doesn't bother to debate anything. Their answer to this, and as far back as I can remember this has always been their pitch to the general computing public (their to-business advertising is more detailed and informative), is "But, we're Microsoft."

I want to hear them explain why Windows is better than OSX. That is the point I'm missing - because they don't offer it. Again, most people accept the "We're Microsoft" line, and most people are susceptible to identity advertising. And hell, few will understand any of the technical information they could provide.

Maybe I'm asking too much. But informative advertising this is not.
Go back and watch the Mac vs PC ads, because Apple never mention what makes OSX better than Windows, they only ever focus on Windows' flaws, and then blow them way out of proportion.

Instead of retaliating to Apple's petty ads, Microsoft is advertising what makes Windows so great.

It's interesting to note that the "I am a PC" ad was created with a Mac.

I would prefer them not to be "hip" like Apple and attack competition when clearly they are wrong. All of Microsoft's recent commercials have been pretty good. I really like the Seinfeld ones and wish there was going to be more of him, but hey i don't mind variety and looks like they are headed in the right direction.

I love this ad. It shows Windows all over the world, and in real life. Incredibly effective against the starched Mac ads, which bear far more resemblance to the "loader" program in The Matrix than reality. The diversity of the people shown directly relates to the diversity of the computers running it. From the workplace to the data center and business executives, to third world countries, universities, the streetz, both presidential campaigns, outer space, and home offices, people are using Dells, ruggedized laptops, computers designed for remote and impoverished people, servers, and power desktops up to the highest of high end. Microsoft didn't have to advertise what they've got right this second or in the coming generations; they merely had to show what they've had for years.

They don't NEED "informative advertising" in this commercial. The commercial is not saying that Windows is conclusively better than Mac OS. It's saying anyone can use Windows. It's saying that a lot of diverse people use it. Take a moment to seriously consider just how important your choice of operating system is in your life. Seriously.

The ad where "Mac" makes the photo album shows what "makes OSX better than windows." The ad where "Mac" has a hotter girl (representing a video created on their respective computers) shows what "makes OSX better than windows."

The ad that we this seen shows that windows was unmoved by this. It would seem as if they are ignoring mac altogether. I've said this once before. Those who want mac's usually have a reason for wanting them. No commercial on windows is going to change that. I have a friend who only uses her computer for photoshop and website design. She has been interested in getting a mac for awhile now. The only thing stopping her is the price.
