I just don't see a reason to upgrade to Vista - I tried once and it took me hours to get it near to functioning and I just couldn't see the incentive. Back to good ol' XP

Actually, everything you mentioned above was true in the beginning. That was compounded by the low specs and bundled adware that comes with pre-built systems. In the beginning, vista left a bad taste for most people who used it. You can't expect that to just go away.

vista is a worthy OS but people spread rubbish about it. I have never had a SINGLE problem that can be blamed on the OS.

Spam sales are on the rise! It's the end of the world as we know it..

On topic: in all honesty, vista had it's problems. Most were fixed. It is now a stable OS and will continue to be for quite a while. I don't understand why Apple can't accept that (from a logical point of view, not from a sales point).

most of the people who did talk crap never used it, they just took another idiots word for it and went a long with it

oh it's so slow, it crashes all the time. If those people were even given half the deserved credit that any living being deserves vista wouldn't have got that much crap slung it's way

remember XP had its issues also in the begining now everyone loves it vista had its major shares of problems also in the begining one was not enough CPU power people were trying to run Pentium 4 with vista and that didnt work and the driver issue was a mess with vista, but they fixed it with SP1.....apple needs an enterprise application OS to get into business.....apple is great for personal use, but enterprise application is nowhere to be find.

I'm with you on this one. I have many PCs in my home, most of them incapable of running Vista. I had too many issues with the installs on the PCs that were supposed to work and thought of it this way: does the benefit of using Vista (versus XP) outweighs the headaches it causes?

On any rig I configured, XP is rock stable. To make my normal software work on X64 I had to: turn off UAC and driver signing, the only advantage that is left is the prefetching utility - not nearly enough.

You're probably right about that. But the fact of the matter is that vista gave its first users a bad time. You can't blame them. People don't have time to try for themselves. Sure they shouldn't spread talk through the grape vine, but that was an inevitable consequence of vista's failure of an entry onto the market.

Hopefully OSX gaining market share will drive both companies to make a better OS.
