Big reason for Apple's increased sales.... it can run Vista.

I think it is funny people are waiting for Windows 7 because Vista is horrible. Windows 7 is built on the same basic code and GUI as Vista. If you hate Vista, you will hate Windows 7.
XP was a great OS and will continue to serve many people well (Just as Win 98 still does) but will not have the support of a current OS.

Vista runs as fast as XP ever did, even faster for some things.

MY sig rig is comprised of parts from four years ago and it runs Vista just fine. :P I have no instabilities I can't link right to a damaged CPU core, ailing harddrive or one iffy stick of ram, and no speed problems at all.

One of my friends actually runs the beta 7, and he likes it. Same great Vista kernal, all Vista drivers work just fine, yet it's even snappier than Vista, and I know what I'm getting when it's finally released.*

*I don't run Beta OS's. I lust for reliability and longevity as much as performance, and Beta software is chocked full of bugs that cause headaches.

Saying Snow Leopard endangers Vista is like saying the 4870x2 endangers Nvidia.

I mean seriously. Sometimes one will have a few wins over the other, but in the long run, the consumer wins due to the stiff competition. Snow Leopard may be pretty good, but I think 7 may come out and give them a run for their money.

That guy just sounds butt hurt about the recent drop in availability of XP, and he's trying to make it sound like Microsoft is desperate and worried about Apple. If Microsoft loses a few sales to Apple, I'm sure they'll bide their time and wait for them to come back when they're ready to actually customize their computer.

Vista runs flawlessly on 3 year old hardware(Pentium D, X1950Pro, 1GB of RAM). I have first had experience with it, the 'steep' hardware requirements are way overstated - Stability isn't an issues if your into a thing called common sense. Its not hard to keep your computer free of Trojans, ad ware and spy ware - Obviously you'll need a 3rd party security utility like McAfee and the knowledge to avoid malicious sites and content. Most of Vistas issues are probably a result of user error that could have been avoided if he/she done more thinking.

If you still don't believe the stability part, I'll direct you here so we can call it a day.

Windows will always have something in common with its predecessors, they're built around the same kernel or core. Thats why there are similarities between Vista and Windows 98...

The same speed bumps Vista faced when first launched won't be present when Windows 7 releases according to Bill Gates. That being driver issues and steep hardware requirements.

Some people could attest to that since they already notice Windows 7 Beta being snappier than Vista SP1. Thats saying a lot considering 1) Its a new version of Windows and 2) Its a beta.

Most of the Mac stastics don't mention that they are only basing their information on consumer sales and not business / cooperate / education / government sales.

Misinformation

Unless it can play games and run engineering software you can count me out. I use my PC for things other than browsing the internet and playing with video editing software.

Oh yea I probably won't run Windows 7 until after a year of it being released (which is what I did with Vista.)
Consequently I had 0 problems with Vista.....except for the occasional x64 problem with certain apps.

Also, does anyone know if 7 has all of the legacy code removed for speed? I read that somewhere along the lines.......16 bit apps will require a VM, which will be nice....
