The 250gb cap isn't really the problem, this is.

i don't care as long as caps remain ridiculously high in my area - like comcast's 250GB per month. no way am i ever going to use that much bandwidth.

Why don't we just change the world and make all media on the internet free. Have a flat rate of something fair and provide all TV, movies, music etc. for "free" for that flat rate. After all media over internet costs them nothing but server space. The greedy music artists, actors, writers etc. need to take a pay cut anyhow. We pay them many times more than we pay the teachers that mold our children. The different entertainment companies could each take a chunk of this fair flat rate and we all could live without all the arguing and posturing and human greed.

I think this is sad....

the only reason to cap is greed...they see a way to get more money out of you..or the people using more bandwidth...

if you are using the net to download free content or upload it doesnt cost anything...it cost no more to put up the servers than it does to use them for the internet providers...

it doesnt load them anymore or use anything...it's just a scam to get more money... they will make million/billions more doing this and we'll pay for it...if people dont rebel it will happen

if you think about it all the ISP is...is just a gateway connection for you to get from the PC to the net...thats all...they hook you to the cloud...the media isnt on there server...it just passes thru when you nab it from somewhere else...why charge a cap for something that isnt there or stored...? beyond me...

I think if enough people complain it wont last...I mean we've had ISPs for a long time with no cap....why should we start limiting now...especially with people using more and more everyday...

this is like giving people U-verse and then saying you can only watch 1 movie per night or we'll charge you more....? doesnt the monthly fee you pay more than cover your connection fee...? because thats all ISPs are is a connection to the bigger infrastructure....they are just teh middleman...thats all

I have dug around and installed a series of tubes underneath my home that connects me to Al Gore's connection. Now I browse my interweb netsites free of charge.

Seriously, whenever companies start "turning the screws" into their customers, better options seem to pop up. Internazis will never win.

By most of the rest of the world you mean Australia? I think not. The problem is the cable companies. A number of countries where broadband is regulated by the goverment offer services with very high speeds at fixed prices, and no caps. S. Korea is a good example. There's a reason why it's the most wired country in the world when measured per capita.

That is so wrong. I work video production and I constantly send uncompressed data everywhere. I'd shoot the 40GB cap in a few days, not even a week. That is just sad!

That's sad to hear. I always loved the internet as a 'pay x per month, get full access to everything' service. If that changes, my life will be destroyed.

God, I hate when people say ignorant/jealous crap like this. The fact that the US has enjoyed a more consumer friendly all-you-can-eat model and you have not does not mean we should sit quietly by while we get dragged down to your level of service. You should be complaining to your local governments that your service levels suck and are anti-consumer compared to other countries, not tap dancing that the most consumer friendly model around is being burned to the ground.
