They already do this though. I'm capped at 60GB/month, have been for a long time now.

Just face it, it's never going to stop while the companies are out to get as much profit as they can while screwing over the consumer. They don't care as long as they make as much money as they can. We are nothing but worthless pawns to all these corporations and the government to achieve their petty goals and make more profit. To them we don't matter. And nothing is going to change untill enough people stop moaning and actually do something

Actually, our new government is trying to organize a national broadband network, but they're just really, really bad at it.

Having a painful company like Telstra with a monopoly on infrastructure doesn't help either.

Edit: I'm in Australia and I pay AU$105/month for 1.5megabit Down 256kilobit Up, unlimited downloads.(ADSL2/cable are not available here yet.)

I agree with you. With the amount of ISP options "most" people have, competition would make each company push caps higher and higher.

For my area, i have really only 3 choices for internet. 2 DSL and a cable company. The cable is a rip, 4/512k for $55 a month. Another is a local DSL which is as bad as the cable, 5/512k for $50 and 10/512k for $80. Only other option is AT&T which has quite limited speed. They advertise the 6/768k plan on their website for $35 a month when its actually $45 without their home phone service. ~topic

Charter, Comcast and U-Verse are in a circle around me.

AT&T, i am only on the 3/512k line for $40 a month. In December, i actually downloaded more than i ever have by double. 71Gigs. And that is with only a 3meg down speed which is very slow compared to the main stream companies. With this speed its not very easy to find that much to download. But i imagine with Comcast 16/2 it would be pretty easy. 250gig = more space than i have.

I don't mind the caps if their not unreal like 5gigs or say 10gigs your screwed if you watch any movies online thru netflix or buy games online and download them. I say a fair cap would be 80gigs a month somthing isp should be able to live with and the user. Right now i pay 32usd for 10mbit down 1mbit up with no caps tho they do thottle torrents thru hrs 5:45 and 11:45 but only the download does not affect uploads which is kinda wierd but i do not mind.
