I defiantly prefer the stock old Windows one, 3 bars high, Quick Launch on bottom and two for programs, perfect taskbar for me. Especially with Alt-Tab.

I am not a fanboy, I have a Core 2 Duo E8300 and Pentium Dual Core E2180 as well as the CPU in my sig rig, I also have multiple nVidia cards (6800GS, 9400GT, 9600GT) as well as two ATI. (HD4890 + HD2400Pro)

first thing I did was switch back to the old style. hated the new taskbar.

based off this its probably worth another shot.

icons are very ugly though, and the small ones just look weird.

will 7 have options to DL icons and skins to customize it? I've always wanted something like this straight from MS.
