Ooook...

Who, honestly, cares how the damn taskbar works?

I, personally, don't care if it's better. They all do the same thing, which is access the start menu and quick launch, and switch open apps. The Win95 taskbar is = Vista taskbar in functionality, and soon to be the 7 one when I install 7 post-release.

I also don't give a rat's ass about OSX in any way...so meh.

PowerShell? Is that available on the desktop? I know my server guys use it for Server 2008.

Clearly, a lot of people. And whether you care about Macs or not, there are good reasons that they are cutting into Windows' market share despite a good Mac costing more than a PC; and interface components, like the OSX dock, are one of the reasons. Microsoft is very smart to incorporate some of those design elements into Windows 7 rather than stubbornly march on to its outdated drum beat for another ten years.

I love this taskbar. I know some people are like "it will stack my windows to where I can't find stuff quickly enough!!!" well trust me you just hover your mouse and find the window you want right away without a lot of clutter. It's great!

As of Jan 30th I've switched all my Computers over to Windows 7 Beta, it's already that good!

I think the dock is great. I absolutely love it. However, steam does not work properly with it. This isn't windows' fault, moreso steams. The friends windows will sometimes dissapear, and trying to go through the dock to get to it requires closing all steam windows and then reopening it.

I wish I could do that, but my X1400 in my laptop overheats with vista / win7. XP runs great though.

Unless you are talking about inventory software at a lumber camp, I'd say the words "spruce" and "command line" probably don't belong in the same sentence.

Thanks for the article! I was considering trying it, but I have been too busy to bother. :-P
Does anyone here already dual-boot with XP and Vista? If so, would you replace Vista with Win7?

No, the Quick Launch wasn't introduced until Win98. Also, you could not manipulate the start menu by right-click, click-drag, (etc.) until Win98. The Win95 taskbar was extremely static, other than auto-hide and dragging it to another screen edge.

XP Improved upon this by allowing the addition of "toolbars" such as the Windows Media taskbar player.

This new interface holds some promise of convenience, but it has been asked: "Who cares?" I am just skeptical because new features open doors for new bugs, especially from Microsoft. XP still has full functionality. Most people don't need more than 3.5 GB RAM... DX10 is a ploy (though functional).

Without little bits of progress Windows becomes old, plain, gritty when compared to it's dangerous competitor -> OSX. No matter what you do it will always be compared to it. If they kept the WinXP feel then they'd have nothing to go on. Doing something is always better than doing nothing. XP will get old, pleanty still use it sure. But my experience with win7 is very favorable.

lol You think severe bugs only affect the disk where the OS is installed?

There was already an mp3 bug in Win7 WMP that could erase all your mp3s
