I can't see the big deal about UAC, I don't like it so I just turn it off. I'm prepared for the consequences if my computer gets jacked but most of the times that doesn't even happen. For the 10 years that I own my personal computers I've only had 3 hard drives destroyed from viruses and I've never been hacked. Most human beings are illogical to begin with so I'm not even gonna bother contemplating why folks like to complain about the smallest things.

I agree that this is just more windows bashing. I like the idea of UAC, but do not like it in practice. Still, I don't expect anyone but myself to ensure my security.

shame for MS.
the UAC is actually bearable now, instead of a turn me off now affair

Yes, it's a catch 22. But M$ need to stand up and say, yeah, it's slightly annoying, but it's necisary. Get over it and use it. Of course, as their market share is based around people knowing the windows brand and being locked in, they can't do that.

Am I one of the few people to have turned off UAC in Vista then? xD If someone is able to get onto my system in the first place, UAC won't stop them. I concentrate on making sure that they have no method of entry before worrying about anything else.

Facepalm to allowing UAC to disable itself.
Run MSCONFIG from your start search then under tools "Disable UAC."

I think this can be easily fixed - for example, have a prompt that asks for the adminstrator passwork if UAC is to be completely disabled, something like in linux system. Problem solved.

UAC is pointless. It can be disabled in Vista by a registry editing script without user intervention as well. And on XP, most everybody has an administrator account, and of course, no UAC. Never any problems that an up to date antivirus program doesn't solve.
