It takes 2 seconds to read the name of what's requesting permission to run and then click continue. That and i only see it come up every few.... hours. So it's not a big deal to me.

Is it really, though? I don't see this as a major flaw at all.

With Tweak UAC, Vista's implementation was just fine the way it was.

Not what I said at all, but it's a start. The aim should always be to have an OS secure enough an Antivirus is, at most, unecesary for the average user.

On Topic: The problem is not in the fact that this is enabled or not, the problem as many hs pointed it is the fact that people don't browse as they have to.... And they don't even know how to protect their systems...

For me, a good potection suite that includes anti-virus, anti-spyware and a strong firewall will be more than enough to feel safe making UAC useless for me
Why so much windows hate? Because there are better operating systems out there which don't cost an arm and a leg, and are not controlled by one monopoly of a company.

People seem to forget than an Anti-virus is a temporary fix. It's somewhat akin to using duct tape to seal a leaking pipe. It'll fix it for a time, but it's not perfect. UAC is somewhat like replacing a (small) section of the pipe. It's not a total fix, but it's a step towards actually fixing it.

People should expect an operating system to be secure for itself.

You don't see bad security as a major flaw? It really is.

Ok, when your OS constantly prompts you every 5 seconds because it thinks a file you doubleclicked on with the intent to open, come back and say that.

Ok, fine. Put a D3D only game on your computer and try to run it. O, guess what, it fails ass! O, but there's wine...aww, you need a quad core and SLI to run CS:S at 1280X1024 medium settings...Isn't Linux awesome?

Windows > Linux for gamers on that sole point. Linux simply can't run 80% of the games out there, and out of the 20% 18% run like crap because Wine has to emulate the D3D engine and then output to OpenGL.

Linux is no more secure than OSX or Windows. It just appears to be because noone ever attacks it.

As much as I hate to defend M$, that's the fault of the software which is doing things with admin permissions, when it shouldn't need to.

Protip: WINE stands for 'WINE Is Not an Emulator'.
Also, there is dual booting, or having a dedicated gaming rig. Just because I use Linux for most of my desktop usage doesn't mean I won't use windows to game.

That's complete rubbish. You are completely wrong on this point.
Linux is the most popular server OS in the world. Servers are far more powerful, influential, and have much faster connections, hence, they can do a lot more damage in the hands of a cracker. People do try to attack Linux just as they do with Windows.
The fact is, Linux has a much more better model for it's security.
