That's very plausible although I remember there was a guide on the PCSX2 forums that tests for CPU and GPU dependance and most games seem to favor CPU power over GPU, although it solely depends on the game you are trying to run.

This is true. Assume the following, you have a rig with a 9800GTX and Q6600 in it. You'd get a bigger performance boost upgrading to a Q9650 than you would upgrading to a GTX260. This emulator straight up does not play well with ATi cards, though. If anyone finds a workaround, I'd love to hear it.

Have you tried the latest ZeroGS plug-in (0.97.1)? I've heard that it renders things a lot faster although there are usually some things missing on the screen.

ZeroGS hasn't been updated in over a year The guy who coded it worked strictly with nvidia cards, hence the problems.

Even all the speed hacks in the playground build don't help. That's including the ones that supposedly give huge speed gains at the cost of stability. The end result: An unplayable, unstable game.

I might be jumping the gun a bit, since I haven't bothered to download this build and test it out, but the problem has always been that the people who code the graphics plugins don't give a damn about team red. GSdx (which is better than ZeroGS) is also coded by a guy who uses nvidia cards. Go figure.

So, ATI are cards are just a no-go and there is no way around that?

Wow that's really too bad, I didn't think it was that much of a problem. I have noticed though that PCSX2 is really sensitive to settings, like in GDSx some games work better in software than hardware mode.

Have you tried running GDSx in software dx10 mode and putting 4 threads since you have a quad?

This is all good and dandy but why would you want to play PS2 on your PC. I mean in order for this to work you NEED a PS2, and PS2 games. If you already have both why use an emulator. My couch is a lot more comfy than my PC chair, so if I had a PS2 I would not play it on my PC.
