Simple.. most computer noobs use winodws. they know that linux users are generally 1000x more advanced in terms of security and common sense than windows users.

The guy did send a link to the person and have them click on it but that wasn't where he flaw was. The link was just taking them to a site that had the malicious code built it. These types of codes can be placed in regular legit web pages and run for a while before they are caught. I've heard somewhere that the majority of these sorts of attacks come from normal websites that you would usually visit.

The flaw was in the browser and the way it lets the website do whatever it wants. And I doubt they would give a prize to some guy who could only run a little script on the other computer. He had to prove somehow that it was an actual threat.

The browser can't let the website do whatever it wants if it is being run under a limited user account on a *nix system. That's my point.

Anyone can use Linux, even the most computer illiterate. It comes on some systems these days. And some of the most security minded people use Windows so you really can't generalize and say that Linux people are 1000x smarter.

Ah, I see now. Surely though, the user base of Windows is much larger and therefore more vulnerable than that of Linux?
