it's probably more stable than vista

What I did with Vista RC and I've been doing with W7 Beta is simply multi-boot. I always keep my drives well partitioned so I can easily add new OS as I wish to try them.

That way I can play with the new OS without being tied to it. If I find it unstable or have problems, I go back to my old OS. If I find it stable and an improvement, I stick to it.

For the record, W7 has been the latter for me! Been running it since the beta came out.

You wont be getting it until the rest of the public do dude or maybe a few days earlier like the Beta release, so you will have to keep waiting probably until the end of april or begining days of may if this is really due out on the 5th

This is ONLY for the big oem companies listed like dell etc who always get access to builds before anyone else (RTM builds for example might get to them a month before you can buy the boxed copy of the OS on the shelf so they can test it and pre load it on pc's and ship them out) so unless we get a legitimate leak we all have to wait sadly

I'd like to know what build the RC is really based on though, i doubt its one of the very newest builds since they tend to lock it down early and start testing it heavily before public release, like they did with the beta

Ironically the newer the test build for me the more bugs that keep popping up (on a full clean install) i really hope they fix that...

On build 7077, and you're right everybody will have to wait til May, 5th, even TechNet / MSDN subscribers.

well; i can tell you this tho, even this is still in BETA, it' already runs 2x as good as vista. and i've used vista and tweaked vista for perfomance sakes. and with win7, there isn't much tweaking to do.

Even old hardware issues are rare. One of my test machines was a Dell Dimension E310: P4 @ 3.0 GHz, 1 1/2 GB RAM, GeForce 5500 video card...basically a super outdated rig--W7 worked absolutely flawlessly on it.

W7 will be the replacement XP Die-Hards have been waiting for.
