I use Nod32, the price isn't that bad for knowing you have absolutely no aggravation to deal with. I don't mind spending a lil money to make life simple.

Avira is rather good and I like it but it is annoying sometimes. Here is what I use mostly:
BitDefender Free Edition Avira Malwarebyte's Antimalware Windows Defender (and since it doesn't work on vista) SuperAntiSpyware

I've been saying that for quite a while on these forums but people don't listen and the game of telephone played with misinformation continues. I've been using Avira for years.

Ive been using avast for many years but I may try antivir now, annyoing thing with avast as already noted is it stops scanning if it finds something, annoying when your out and you arrive home and then have to continue the scan again, also avast is a bit bloaty I find, if was less bloaty it would own. But im still going to try antivir.

I have used McAfee, Avast, Kaspersky and NOD32.
I am shocked to see them giving McAfee and Norton good reviews as almost everone I know agrees they are 2 of the worst. Avast older version was ok for a free AV but not tired any of the new releases since 4 years ago. Kaspersky and NOD32 IMO are the best. NOD32 just edges the win as it uses less resources then Kaspersky.

Well I've switched back to AntiVir from Avast just to see how good the protection is and speed of the scanning is compared to Avast.
About 6-7 years ago I had made the switch from Avast to Norton and then to Avast briefly before staying with AntiVir. After about a year I felt AntiVir was too slow the the interface too tightly packed and thus made a switch to Avast. I've been on Avast since and have it installed on virtually every computer in the house (minus the Linux boxes). THG seems to think Avast has poor protection but that doesn't seem to fly with the various other tests performed on it by other groups. Either way, every place that has tested AntiVir has given it high ratings, so I figure it's worth the gamble to switch back. We'll see after I restart and do a scan.
