I use Avira on all my systems for a long time. By far the best security and smallest footprint I have ever used. Highly recommended by cheez!

NOD32 is more than cool with me. Doesn't hog any memory at all.

I use ESET NOD32, my computer sees a lot of viruses as i use it to virus scan drives from clients computers, back-up their data etc. and have had no reason to format in 6 months. Using McAfee i had to format every 3 months, AVG every 2 months and Norton 360 straight away (lol it's ****).

I've used Avast and now NOD32, NOD32 is better than Avast in my experience. It seems to be able to get rid of the more annoying viruses that Avast can't. Too bad it's not free.
