Lol maybe Microsoft planned this. They made the original files take up a lot of space then "Improved" it with SP2.

I got 40Gb back from SP2 install, 1Gb from compcln.exe, so I think that it does do it except for the restore point before SP2 install.

Vista was previously using 20GB's for system restore. Reduced it down to 2GB's, giving me 18GB's of space back.

Hrm...maybe when I reinstall Vista, I'll leave my old install on and throw SP2 at it, see if it does the same thing SP1 did, which was bog everything down and make it take forever to start up/start a program. O, and slow them all down. If it doesn't nerf performance, I might actually put it on the fresh install too, who knows.


Now, to nerf all those restore points that shouldn't even be there....

ok i have 5gb free so now installing sp2 will report back how much free space i have after install

EDIT: nope did not gain any free space but my boot time is a little faster and the computer responds snappier now

+rep, that's a great edit, I gained 40gb space from resizing the shadowstorage/restore amount. Plus sp2 gave me back another 4gb space.
