Are FLAC files really that common on piracy networks?

Unhearable in most circumstances. If you ever wanted to edit the song or slice it for use in another way, only a good quality version will yield accurate results. This is especially noticeable in DJ'ing and loud applications since the ear actually hears 'better' (more frequencies) at louder volumes. (lol, although for the sake of long term damage i wouldn't recommend listing at loud volumes all the time )

for most low quality applications (ipod, mp3 players in general, low quality audio systems) mp3 is fine.
Personally, I use mp3s on my phone because it doesn't have the fidelity for me to notice the difference. As far as flac is concerned I like to have the original copy to listen to at home and to use for proper edits.

I stick to my statement that this is a small step in hopefully the right direction.

5GB and you can now have up to 25GB queued

I constantly have 25GB queued up =D Most of that goes on trafficshare sending files to my friends and myself downloading them (my files) from various places. Easist way of hosting files (easier than my website...doesn't lag my entire site when I'm downloading them and it maxes out my connection)
