i dont see how MS actually makes money off a free-download browser... why dont they just supply firefox like linux and be done with it.
it's not like they'll actually lose anything except ego... market share doesnt mean anything for a free product.

Ads.

And yeah, BMW should include optional AMG packages...

Microsoft should not have to put a competitors product into theirs. That's crazy. Especially when IE only holds like 60% of the marketshare.

I think the EU is just about 15 years behind the times. They don't realize that other OSes and browsers have a strong foothold in the market.

Steam requires IE, as do many other programs, such as explorer's built in FTP, so whether you like it or not, there is a good chance you're using IE on a regular basis.

Though the first think I do after a format is install firefox, I know a bunch of non power users who are completely happy with IE8.
I just don't understand why they feel the need to go on this power trip.
Problem is that the complaints will be sent to Microsoft and not to the EU. Educating the public on this issue isn't an easy matter without an extremely aggressive advertising campaign, which would still hurt Microsoft.

You could also browse FTP sites using an FTP client, which is still integrated into Windows (write ftp in run).

If I get windows 7, I will be getting the EU version. I despise extra BS I'll never use, and IE is at the top of that list.

It's a very simple matter for me to put the Opera or Firefox installers on a flash drive.

I wouldn't be caught dead using Steam, or explorer's built in FTP (the command line ftp is an exception).
