No matter how good you encode a file - past a certain point it will not make a difference at all. I've tried. Youtube always re encodes your video. Past a certain point it drops it.

oh I know about blip.tv and all those other video sites - infact I've used them a bunch of times for things that Youtube wouldn't let me.
But I upload basically for the views, and Youtube is the most popular. I'm already past a million and a couple hundred thousand. I would only dream that on blip.

To me, I don't understand why file size is more important to anyone on YouTube. I would rather have one long video where it's the full video so that the viewers do not have to go looking for "Part 2/5" and so on, and be able to watch the full video.

YouTube used to not have a limit at all. I had 35 minute and 45 minute films I had made on there.

If quality is so important, than you shouldn't be using YouTube.

Even if it's good that they are increasing the file size limit I don't see any use of it when their HD function still ain't working properly.

Hell, even if quality is important, Youtube looks great as it is if you do the HD or even High Quality right. You just gotta watch the resolution, bitrate, and file type. If you nail each thing the way Youtube likes it, then you've got good videos.

Exactly. Quality is important, but it's not that important if you know what works and doesn't work.

I used to have a "Director" account and had NO limits at all. I don't know what happened, but it sucks having to split videos.

All that does is take longer in the long run for having to encode different videos and upload numerous videos instead of letting just one be uploaded.
