That's not so true, about Norton any more, it really has improved ten fold since the 2009 edition, no more lag caused by norton, they re designed it not to scan everything all the time, like it used to, also uses less system resources, and is overall better, but a knowledged PC user doesn't need anti virus, just a good firewall will do

only reason i get Norton is because we need a good internet security suit in this house, since my mum and sister are not very smart about these things i would use NOD32 or Kaspersky, but sadly they don't sell that here, and i can't buy it online, so all i really got with choice is Norton or even more worse choices like Mcafee

----------

wow that was a big mistake by Mcafee, they probably just lost a large percent of their user base due to that

Bad idea, because average joe users need anti virus protection, since they are not smart about security

For many years I didn't use any antivirus software at all, and never had 1 virus. However, one day I got a virus on my flashdrive from a friends network. It was a nasty piece of work, when you connected onto her network or plugged your flashdrive in, the virus would hop onto whatever media it could. The virus was pretty bad too, it closed your brower whenever you typed "norton" "avg" "kapersky" "antivirus" or anything that could remove it. You couldn't even install an antivirus program.

I don't use anti-virus as I know what I download, torrents have never given me any problems and if I do somehow get a virus I've got my important files backed up so a fresh install is needed, which also gives off a speed boost :P

A very large majority do...

Your average non-computer-literate accountant will most likely have an easier time using MS SQL Server than a Linux based oracle install.

Active Directory is nice too.

I don't know...I think as long as the company has the money to buy and run Windows based servers they would probally be better off.

Untill you get into huge multi nationals that need to run several top of the line IBM Blade Servers...those only run Linux.

Servers should not be run by those who don't know what they are doing.

For all those who say they have never installed an anti-virus program. Please tell me that you still scan regularly.

Seriously, there are so many ways to get viruses now that it would be stupid to not use the trend micro online scanner thingy at least once every few weeks. ESPECIALLY if you use online banking.
