It's as Latty said, generally people are uninformed and make stupid purchases.
Though, the same can be said for the enthusiasts around here, the only difference is while our purchasing decisions can really suck at times, we do atleast know that are equipment won't be top dollar next year. Some of these folks go to the stores and purchase items for top dollar considering them to be the best, and then come to find out that they are not, when they paid the same as say I did, when mine is obviously better. In the end it's up to the consumer to do his/her research, or atleast consult with friends that they have that know what's good and what's not. I had a phone call mid game yesterday with a friend asking me if he wanted Direct X on his machine. Obviously not the brightest guy, but he is learning. And he has always been smart about his buys and tried to look things up first.

They don't charge £150 for any of our services, save for maybe a full TV install complete with cables.
As ridiculously easy as some of it is, some people don't find it so, and appreciate having people to do it. They charge less than £30 for many things like Data Transfers, upgrades and OS optimisations, which I think is pretty reasonable.

In the USA, and in all of Europe that I am aware of, defamation has a VERY narrow definition. The ultimate problem with defamation laws (If overbroad) is that they necessarily restrict an individual's freedom to speak and express themselves. Especially in America, any laws that do this must be VERY narrowly tailored so as to pass constitutional muster. Secondly, in the U.S.A., laws that prohibit "fighting words" or "offensive language" are unconstitutional on their face. Not only are they vague and overbroad (what constitutes "fighting words" or "offensive language?"), but they are blanket violations of the first amendment. The (U.S.) Supreme Court has repeatedly emphasized, for literally over a hundred years, that "general insults and frictions inherent in everyday interpersonal life" CAN NEVER be legally sanctionable. So this gets us back to defamation. In order for something to be defamatory, the very first requirement is that it be a statement of purported fact, or a statement reasonably interpreted to be fact. By definition, mere insults are ALWAYS excluded from defamation laws. For example, if I said "Brian is a Douche." Nobody (including me) would ever actually think Brian is an actual Douchebag (like the kind used for feminine hygiene). Therefore, this speech is non-defamatory, and strictly protected under the First Amendment. However, if I said, "Brian stole my credit card number last year," that statement was intended to be a statement of fact and would be interpreted as a statement of fact. This would (subsequent to a number of other hurdles) be a defamatory statement UNLESS BRIAN ACTUALLY DID STEAL MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER. Truth is always an absolute defense to defamation (except defamation of a public figure -- that is a bit of a different analysis). Anyway, hope this helps.

And Choggs. Ok, so it's deflamation. Facebook acts as a third party. If they named you specifically you've got a case. If they just said it as you were walking out and you overhear them, you get them fired. Every employed person should know you're an ambassador of that company whenever you're in uniform, or, say, when you're posting on a related website. You're acting like it's out of order to want some sort of come uppance for an employee calling you stupid.

WHen you call someone stupid, that is not illegal in any modern Western nation. Every nation that has broad speech protections expressly permits this type of speech. I can call you an idiot right now and you couldn't do anything (legally) about it.
