My 4670 is basically useless right now for Folding@Home, that's why I have it running a BOINC project that support single precision ATI cards. I can't wait for GPU3 client.

This is not necessarily good news, at least for nvidia folders. CUDA is much more efficient than OpenCL and has much more direct access to the GPU, so it may in fact have a negative performance impact for nvidia users. Stanford needs to get off their ass and properly support Brook+ and Stream for ATI users.

well in terms of TFlops, ATI cards rape nvidia's, IIRC. Hopefully this client can tap into it..

I hope this is true. I'd prefer to get the card I think is best all around without having to worry about getting smashed by folding performance.

I can't prove your theory on CUDA being more efficient than OpenCL right or wrong since I don't know much about this whole GPGPU thing, but by utilizing OpenCL, this could make it so that both Nvidia and ATI share 1 GPU core making it less tedious for the Folding@Home crew to update them since they only have to work on 1 than 2. As well OpenCL is an open language (apparently from what I know) and while I'm entirely sure on this, I think that this could lead to GPU Folding on macs and linux too.

correct for CUDA wrong for ati.Brook is a high level language that worked on nvidia too and ati's stream is nothing but openCL.

Open CL is the future. Imagine a F@H client that could use the CPU and GPU together on a single WU.
