This is very interesting news for 2 reasons:
1: The ATI graphics card will now be able to fold more efficiently.
2: Using OpenCL could mean that ATI and Nvidia (and Intel Larabee possibly) might all use the same GPU core.

I think that indeed Stanford would hold out until the new Nvidia cards come out. I have read a bit about it and Nvidia is doing some revolutionary things of theirs with that new line that's coming out. Also on the ATI side, the new 5xxx series that hit earlier this week have been making tidal waves across the enthusiast crowd with its excellent benchmark performance. These two things are the the main reason why I think a early 2010 release of GPU3 client would make the most sense.

I would definitely have to agree to this. Seems accurate to me
