Default [Collatz Conjecture] ATI v2.04 Apps Released for Collatz Conjecture

SOURCE

Quote:
ATI v2.04 Apps Released
September 29, 21:11 CST
New v2.04 ATI app for Windows are available on the optimized applications page. If running the 9.2+ drivers, use the *ati.zip versions. If using 8.12 or 9.1 drivers, please use the *amd.zip versions. The new apps are faster and do not require copying and renaming the DLLs. If running BOINC 6.10.10 or higher with 9.2+ drivers installed, the v2.04 app will download automatically. See the readme.txt in each download for information on how you can tune it for your system using the app_info file.
This is really good news. I haven't tried v2.04 yet, but v2 was MUCH faster on my GPU over CPU (35-40 minutes on GPU as opposed to 7-8 hours on CPU).

Porky, it is a research project that tests the Collatz Conjecture also known as 3x+1 or HOTPO (half or triple plus one); a mathematical conjecture.

I have installed the v2.04 and saw some improvements. Now the WU are taking about 28-35 minutes (dependent on PC usage) as opposed to 35-40 minutes. A pretty sizeable increase for a weaker card like mine. I have read on the project message board that some users with high end cards like Radeon HD 4870 reporting 25% speed improvements.
