Default [CNET] Adobe exploit puts backdoor on computers

Quote:
A new zero-day exploit targeting Adobe Reader, as well as 9.1.3 and earlier versions of Adobe Systems' Acrobat, drops a backdoor onto computers using JavaScript, Trend Micro researchers warned on Friday.

Trend Micro identified the exploit as a Trojan horse dubbed "Troj_Pidief.Uo" in a blog post. It arrives as a PDF file containing JavaScript-based malware, "Js_Agent.Dt," and then drops a backdoor called "Bkdr_Protux.Bd."

The exploit affects Microsoft Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, and Server 2003, according to Trend Micro.

That is unfortunate. I haven't used Adobe Reader for a long time. Foxit has become my new friend.

Same here. I used to use Adobe Reader, and my whole desktop would freeze for a while if I had to open a .PDF.

Now, I can open a large .PDF, wait about 10 seconds browsing on Firefox/doing something, and it is open.

So yes, it seems like Vista and 7 are OK.

I assume so...

But speaking of foxit reader I don't use that either

I use this its portable apps so convenient to have it on usb drive. Also, its faster than foxit reader too.
